This time and frequency presents an opportunity to assist patients in improving not only their oral health but their overal health. Introducing a smoking cessation program into dental hygiene treatment only takes a few minutes of patient time and is a valuable and necessary service. Objectives The student wil understand the benefits of quitting smoking.
The student wil understand ADHA’s “Ask.Advise. Refer.” Program.
The student wil list 5 contraindications to nicotine replacement.
The student wil discern between prescription and OTC quit aids.
The student wil provide the patient with at least 2 resources to assist them quit smoking.
