Camp Adventureland Confirmation and Information for:
RESIDENTIAL CAMP PARTICIPANTS 2013
Thanks for choosing to spend one week or more with us this July! In 2013 we are celebrating our 43rd Anniversary. Adventureland opened its doors in 1970 and since that time thousands and thousands of campers like you have participated in our programs. We would like to extend an invitation to all parents and campers to join us for our campfire this summer on Thursday July 25th beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow campfire. If you plan on attending, please email us at On the next page you should have most of your questions answered. If you have any unanswered questions or concerns, please email us at the address below, rather than waiting to talk to us at the check in
location which can get quite busy. This includes any special needs you wish to bring to our attention about your
child. I urge you to pay particular attention to our kit list and ensure that all of your child's gear is labelled
with your child's last name
(not just initials). A clearly labelled reusable water bottle, sunscreen, hat and non-
aerosol
insect repellent are important items not to be forgotten.
A child’s first trip to summer camp is a great experience, however there is always the possibility of separation anxiety (home - sickness). Our experience has indicated that this problem is not necessarily solved by “the phone call home”. In fact calling home usually aggravates the feelings of homesickness. Our staff are prepared and very sensitive to this issue and will work closely with any child who experiences homesickness. Rather then encouraging your child to phone, we recommend sending a family photo to camp with them and writing them a letter. While your child is staying with us, we will make every effort to ensure that any letters or care packages are hand delivered to your child. We will also make efforts to distribute emails (no attachments please) to your child, through the email address above, although we cannot guarantee this as we only have one phone line which is on dial up. But we will "Do Our Best". If you wish to use Canada Post, send your letters early in the week or even the week before they go to camp, to ensure prompt delivery to the following address: For Adventureland

ABOUT LOST AND FOUND … Despite our best efforts, the camp still compiles a quantity of
lost and found. To prevent this, please ensure your child's gear (all of it) is clearly labelled.
P
lease do not pack gear in garbage bags. We would recommend that everything is packed in one g (e.g. hockey bag) to avoid items getting misplaced rather than several bags. The camp ministrator will secure all lost and found items during July. We will contact you for any items that re considered valuable that are labelled and lost. You can call the camp at 905-888-1786 in July make arrangements to pick up items. In August, you will need to make contact with the Camp Ranger to obtain any lost items. He can be reached through the Scout Office at 416-490-6364 x2 33. Any items that are not obtained by Labour Day will be washed and donated to a charity. IMPORTANT
